Velus separates credibility from identity.
The community can see that a reply came from a senior engineer with nine years in technology — enough to weigh what they said. It never sees who they are. Everything else about how Velus works follows from that one split.

Your name is attached, so the hard questions go unasked
You cannot ask publicly whether your salary is fair, whether your manager is unreasonable, or whether you should leave — not with your employer beside your face. So the questions that matter most are asked privately, or not at all.

The useful part of who you are — role, industry, years — travels with what you write. The identifying part stays behind. A question costs you nothing to ask, and an answer still carries the weight of the person giving it.

Verification is done by a person: you send a CV or a LinkedIn profile, one reviewer reads it, and the file is deleted as soon as the review is finished. The badge it earns says an employer was verified — never which one.
What we hold to
Anonymity is protection, not permission
It exists so a hard question costs nothing to ask. It is not cover for treating people badly, and every report goes to a person.
Verification is what an answer is weighed by
Anyone approved can ask and answer. Verification confirms the person behind a reply really does the work — and only a verified reply can be chosen as a Best Answer.
Attention is not the product
No streaks, no infinite scroll, no notifications engineered to pull you back. Useful when you need it, silent when you don't.
Knowledge should outlast the conversation
A good answer shouldn't disappear into a feed. Perspectives and shared knowledge stay findable long after the thread goes quiet.
Velus began with a simple observation: the best career advice its founder ever received arrived privately, from someone with nothing to gain by giving it. This is an attempt to make that kind of generosity ordinary — and to make it last longer than one conversation.
